I'm unclear how anyone can write a review about a book they did not read This book is not for everyone This author writes really tough books that don't have simple answers and challenge readers If you don't want your thinking challenged then this book is not for youI am a librarian and I teach young adult literature and this is an amazing book It is NOT fat shaming This is a story about a young woman who lives in her body fully and experiences life through her physical self When she experiences great loss she begins to punish herself by forgoing physical experiences She has a complex relationship with her body and with her weight gain that can not be labeled as fat shaming To do so is to miss the nuances in this book and misses the point that the protagonist is struggling in all areas of her life Also the book does not end with her magically losing weight She never discusses wanting to lose weight What she misses are relationships with others and she misses living her physical lifeTo uote this amazing review by Kirkus A much needed story about a fat girl that does not euate weight loss with salvation Give this book a read and challenge yourself Challenge yourself to understand the protagonist instead of taking the easy route by labeling it as something that it's not
