Etimes a broken heart is all you need to set you freeReiko loves the endless sky and electric colours of the Californian desert It is a refuge from an increasingly claustrophobic life of family pressures and her own secrets Then she meets Seth a. book #4 done for the contemporary a thon under the challenge of a book with “blurple” on the cover ✔i read katherine webber's debut novel Wing Jones and REALLY enjoyed it so going into this book my expectations were already pretty highbut i just found myself so detached while reading it the story has a lot of potential and i can see why it is such a loved book but i mainly had issues with reiko our main character she's somewhat conceited her character is flat and she's part of this mean girls suad which is FINE i dont fault books that use that trope if it's done well BUT i didnt think it was done particularity well i liked the grief aspect with her sister but i just wished the book explored that instead of the romance the romance was NOT my thing at all from the beginning it was kinda insta love y and then it got toxic real uick both of them did some really awful stuff and the ending was a nice conclusion and all but i was just left veryperplexedeh i guess it just wasn't my cup of tea

I've not read a YA book like it but teens REALLY need novels as nuanced and brilliant as this one It sends such a great message that true love starts from within Not to be missed
