This was a really good seuel to the Black Dawn series In the first book Heir Of Lies we are introduced to the main characters in a smaller setting the school that they live at They are younger and naive to everything around them ueen To Ashes essentially sees them mature both in years and mentality There is also a lot world building in the preuel and the reader is introduced to street markets city life and mythological creatures that are uniue to Mallory's imagination Different character POVs were strategically separated by chapters making it easy to transition between them Each character had a distinct voice and the story remained easy to follow along throughout its entirety I especially enjoyed the relationships that came to fruition and found myself very intrigued with the character Brokk Can't wait to read the third installment in the series Thanks to Mallory for a copy in exchange for my honest review
