READ The Crescent Stone (The Sunlit Lands #1) 108 à A girl with a deadly lung disease A boy with a tragic past A land where the sun never sets but darkness still creeps in Madeline Oliver has never wanted for anything but now she would give anything just to breathe Jason Wu skates through life on jokes but when a tragedy leaves him guilt strN exchange for one year of service to his people Madeline and Jason are swept into a strange land where they don't know the rules and where their decisions carry conseuences that reach farther than they could ever gues. Matt Mikalatos has a way of making me laugh out loud and cry uietly all within a few pages of one another The story of an ailing teenage girl and her friends magically propelled into a fantastic adventure in another world is compelling as a story and convicting as an illustration as the themes of power and privilege and unintended conseuences I loved the development of the characters and once I got to the second half of the book I found it hard to put downAs I found true in his book My Imaginary Jesus Matt is at once both silly and profound lighthearted and philosophical And the story while it tells of a land in a far off magical destination the implications hit really close to home I'm grateful to have had the chance to read this and I'm looking forward to the next one
