I think this very interesting subject matter should have been handled by a capable writer This was a painful read because the story is so poorly constructed random time shifts shifts in perspective poor pacing did we really have to spend that much time with the dolls and a somewhat paternalistic and sometimes self congratulatory tone throughout I only finished it to find out what happened but I don't feel the book reveals much than what was presented in the original article for the New York Times
